Congress Park features Arts and Crafts bungalows, Dutch Colonial, Mediterranean, Queen Anne and Victorian style homes plus elegant apartment buildings from the 1930s. The neighborhood has one historic district-Snell Subdivision which is one square block of Denver Squares. Congress Park started as part of a cemetery with Cheesman Park then in 1903 became Denver's first city nursery. The park now has a city outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts. The neighborhood has two small shopping areas that include a variety of retail stores and restaurants. The neighborhoods north and south borders are Colfax Avenue and 6th Avenue, while its east and west boundaries are Colorado Boulevard and Josephine Street. Along Colfax, you will find many different restaurants, plus Twist and Shout (great music store), Tattered Cover (the best independent bookstore in the country), lots of restaurants, coffee and cupcakes.
